How to connect BSNL Broadband Modem which has a Wifi Router to your Wifi enabled laptop.

In your desktop

Open Any Browser in you PC to which the BSNL Broadband Modemis connected through LAN.
open the page 192.168.1.1
Click on Wireless on left menu
Check the enable wireless option.
Make a note of the the SSID mentioned (this will be shown up int he Laptop while searching for Wi-Fi Device)
Select India.
Click on Save/Apply.

Go to your laptop

Install any wireless LAN driver (Ralink wireless LAN).
Enable Wi-Fi in your Laptop.


Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> View Network Status and Tasks
Click on set up a new connection or network.
Then Click connect to the internet and click next.
Your system should have already identified the network and show (Browse the Internet Now).
If not then click on Connect to a Network and select the SSID you made note of from the list shown. Then Click on it and Click connect.
Then go to the Internet Explorer and test whether the you are able to access the internet.
Else go to Start -> Control Panel - > Network and Internet -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab -> LAN Settings
Then uncheck use a proxy server for your LAN.
Then Click ok and again ok again.
Then go to the Internet Explorer and test whether the you are able to access the internet.
It should work this time
